Frequently Asked Questions.

> Does this breed make good family pets?

Rat terriers tend to have an off switch and often enjoy cuddling their people and make good family pets. I usually place more confident and active dogs for hunting/acreage/sport homes. If there is already a dog in the home, I usually recommend the opposite sex. Some of my adults do not bark at all.

> How many litters do you have per year?

I typically have two litters per year, from different dam's. Puppies are born in my bedroom, and spend the first four weeks of their lives there.

> What should I expect for size? What is included with the puppy?

I breed standard rat terriers and they tend to be 15-18" high at the shoulder. This breed can be fairly muscular and typically weigh 20-30lb. Puppies all get examined by a licensed veterinarian at seven weeks of age. They receive their first set of shots, deworming, and microchips. Dew claws stay intact, tails are usually docked. Includes a puppy pack.

> Do you require a deposit? Visitations?

To be on my official wait list I must receive a non refundable deposit (although transferrable). Puppy picks are made at 45 days and in order in which deposits were received. Breeder then guides which puppy would be a better fit for the role needed, based on their temperament and energy levels. I allow physical visits for official puppy picks with families that have deposits. Otherwise once puppies are vaccinated, this is to ensure biosecurity.

> Do you have a health warranty? Do you OFA certify your dogs?

I offer a two year health guarantee on congenital health defects and a two year guarantee towards hip dysplasia (some terms/conditions apply). I am working towards certifying all future breeding dogs with OFA elbow, hips, patellas and basic cardiac. Some of my older dogs may not be fully OFA certified. I guarantee that puppies are DNA clear and not affected by PLL, PRA PRCD, DM, Hypothyroidism, CDPA. I test new bloodlines and every third generation.

> Are all your dogs shown on your website? Breeding rights?

Breeding dogs that are retired, in a guardian home or on a lease basis will not be displayed on my website. I do not at this time sell dogs for breeding purposes. Dogs placed are for pets only and non breeding contracts are to be signed.

> Do you ship/transport puppies?

Yes, shipping is available via Westjet or Air Canada cargo. Up to two puppies may share a crate. Cost is approximately 350-400$. Some weather restrictions may apply in winter. Nanny companion services for me to physically bring the puppy cost extra. I very rarely ship outside of Canada, depending on the country's regulations. For American homes, I recommend Seegmillers kennels.

> Do you have specific hours? Updates?

Weeknights and weekends are best to contact me. My Facebook page contains the most recent updates. I respond quickly to messages and give lifetime breeder support to all my puppy families.

> What are your adults fed?

My dogs are usually on First Mate High performance/puppy. My pregnant and nursing mothers are mostly raw fed.
